Napoleonic update, 3 more Old Glory battalions

Hi all
Just finished another 3 battalions. 2 British & 1 French. Minis are old glory
Bases are MDF 25mm X 30mm from Products for Wargamers.
I fix them with my normal bases mix. I will leave them to dry then add GW texture paint and finally some flock.
That's 9 British battalions and 3 French.

15mm Old Glory Highlanders

A Scottish update. I just need to complete the red pattern on their socks and heads. I will give them a quick wash then highlight. I am quite happy with the tarten for 15mm figs.

15mm Blue Moon Napoleonic British Heavy Dragoons

Hi All
Some more figures done, this time blue moon 15mm Napoleonic british heavy dragoons.
I would first like to say I am really happy with the quality of thses figures. Great detail and a real pleasure to paint. Much better horses than battle honors or old glory. Sadly the same cannot be said for their infantry, the sculpts are nice but loads of chunky flash around the right hand connecting to the entire backside of the infantry figures.
But lets focus on the good stuff
I purchased 1 command pack and 2 troop packs to give me 36 figures totalling 3 regiments. Based on 45mm x 40mm bases
A comparison shot with the infantry. I will get these flocked as soon as my flock applicator arrives.
I hope you like them.

15mm Old Glory French Napoleonic

7 battalions of British will need an opponent. my first 2 battalions of French line done. they need basing but heres some close up shots.
in great coats with elite companie
Line troops in campaing dress, again old glory.
Thats 48 minis done, now another 10 battalions to do.

Napoleonic update. 15mm British mostly Old Glory

hi all
i know it has been a while but i have been busy painting and at work.
i was unhappy with the 40mm x 30mm bases and after some mock ups and calling a friend decided to go with 24 minis to 6 bases. The bases are from Products for Wargamers, Jim was very helpfull and made these up quick time and at a fantastic price.

25mm x 30mm roughly the same size as Napoleon at War bases. i like the size of the base as it protects the figures and allows space for me to flock them (later). i needed to rebase a load of minis so heres some pics.

in line

and some highlanders

most of the miniatures are Old Glory. i like the detail and variety of poses compared to some manufacturers, it makes them more interesting to paint.
 group shot, 7 battalions

the south essex? sharpe & Harper lead the way.

and finally the comparison in bases sizes. battalion on the left has 32 minis on 40mm x 30mm.
on the right 24 miniatures on 25mm x 30mm bases. this way they are more flexable and i paint a lot
less.

10mm Pendraken ACW basing. And a little quick tip.

Hi all.
I managed to make a start on the 10mm ACW minis from Pendraken. I will post some close up photos but first I wanted to show you all my new basing technique. I started doing this with my British Napoleonics.
Once I have decided on a base size(25mm x 20mm) I then make the mixture up.
This consists of ready made polyfilla and PVA glue. Mixt with equal measures. I then use Vallejo dark brown and squeeze in a few drops. I then use an old school glue applicator to mix up the mixture. You may need to add more drops of paint to get a darker colour but as the mixture is white I suppose you could add any colour? Desert? Fantasy purple land? Whatever takes your fancy.
Step 1

Step 2 the mixture

Step 3 base ready, 25mm x 20mm

Step 4 a small amount applied to the base. You may need to add more if the miniature bases are thicker. Pendraken miniatures have a very thin base.

Step 5 add the miniatures in the desired way and lightly press them down in to the mixture. I have failed to paint the miniature bases before adding to the base on this occasion. I recommend you paint the miniatures base before adding to make this easier.

The amount you need to mix is up to you, the polyfilla will start to set in a short while so best to mix up small amounts at a time. I hope this has given you some ideas. More photos to follow of the finished bases.

10mm Pendraken ACW for Fire and Fury

Hi all. It's been a while I'm afraid as I have been busy at work.
Mrs H kindly got me some Pendraken ACW armies packs for a new project. I ordered them at the beginning of the week and they arrived very shortly after. I called Leon to see how long it would take and he could clearly hear I was another desperate Wargamer that needed another project to add to his pile of lead. He sorted my order out very quickly and a heavy padded envelope arrived the same week.
I purchased both army packs and some additional packs like zouaves, dismounted cavalry and more guns. The miniatures are very good and a pleasure to paint. The detail is clear and very little flash. Well done Pendraken.
As you an see it was a fairly large order and I can't wait to get started. I will keep you posted. Many thanks.
